ABOUT

Troy Quinn is an accomplished American conductor known for his dynamic style and ability to bridge classical and contemporary music. He currently serves as the Music Director of both the Owensboro Symphony in Kentucky and the Venice Symphony in Florida, while also holding the role of Pops Conductor for the Santa Rosa Symphony in California and the Rhode Island Philharmonic.


Originally from Connecticut, Quinn pursued his musical education at Providence College, the Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Southern California, where he earned his doctorate in conducting. Over the years, he has worked with renowned orchestras such as the Boston Pops and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and has collaborated with artists like The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Josh Groban, and Jennifer Hudson. His expertise extends to the entertainment industry, contributing to television shows like GLEE and The Voice, as well as film projects such as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Beyond conducting, Quinn is passionate about music education, serving on the faculty at the University of Southern California and mentoring young musicians. His commitment to engaging audiences and making orchestral music accessible has defined his career, earning him recognition for his innovative and expressive leadership.

 

Troy Quinn was born in Connecticut and developed an early passion for music. He pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at Providence College, where he was awarded the Leo S. Cannon Award for superior achievement in music. He later earned his Master’s degree with honors from the Manhattan School of Music, studying conducting under David Gilbert and voice with Mark Oswald, a renowned Metropolitan Opera singer. Quinn completed his Doctorate in Conducting at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Larry Livingston and Jo-Michael Scheibe and was recognized as the outstanding doctoral graduate of his class.


Quinn has established himself as one of the most versatile conductors of his generation. He is currently the Music Director of the Owensboro Symphony in Kentucky and the Venice Symphony in Florida. Additionally, he serves as the Pops Conductor for the Santa Rosa Symphony in California and the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

Throughout his career, Quinn has conducted prestigious orchestras across the United States, including the Boston Pops, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. He has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, Josh Groban, Jennifer Hudson, Michael Feinstein, Tower of Power, The Indigo Girls, and Nas.


Quinn has worked extensively in the television and film industry. He earned an Emmy nomination for the PBS special A Night at the Oscars with the Owensboro Symphony. His television appearances include GLEE (Fox), The Voice (NBC), and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC). He has also contributed to film scores, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Call of the Wild.


Quinn is dedicated to music education and serves on the conducting faculty at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. He has previously taught at Providence College and participated in conducting institutes at the Royal Academy of Music, Eastman School of Music, and Bard Conservatory of Music.


Despite his busy schedule, Quinn considers Owensboro, Kentucky, his second home. He actively engages with the community, visiting schools and supporting local arts initiatives. He believes in making orchestral music accessible to diverse audiences and continues to push the boundaries of classical and pops programming.
