Lyceum²

ABOUT

When Baldwin Wallace University faculty colleagues, Robert Mayerovitch and Julian Ross, decided to formalize their long-standing playing partnership and give it a name, they sought an appellation that would represent the jovial camaraderie they share in collaboration as well as the exponential potential gained when exploring music together rather than individually. Windows in Dr. Mayerovitch's studio, where the two often rehearse, look directly across to Baldwin Wallace University's historical Lyceum Square. One evening, while studying intensely in the glow of Lyceum Square, Ross and Mayerovitch somehow transformed to become Lyceum². (Or maybe it was something they ate.)

Compelling interpretations result from Lyceum²'s decades spent exploring, relishing, mastering, and performing their vast repertoire. Great works have fueled the ever-evolving musical insights that they love sharing with their listeners. They connect with audiences by bolstering their superb music making with their thought-provoking, unpredictable, and good-humored perspectives about the music, its challenges, and its cultural context. Lyceum² delves deeply into traditional and well-loved music, but also champions works by forgotten and marginalized composers. More
