ABOUT

Gilbert’s compositions offer the listener a kaleidoscope of textures, sounds, challenging harmonies, and crisp and vibrant melodies, providing a rewarding journey from the first notes to the last beat. Many are written for multi-combinations of instruments, solos, duets, trios, small ensembles to full-blown symphonic orchestral music, to the most personally poignant songs for voice and piano. 

 A native of West Texas, Gilbert Galindo’s music has been heard nationwide, at diverse venues from The Green Mill in Chicago, the University of Wyoming Art Museum, to Rockwood Music Hall, the Tenri Cultural Institute, and Symphony Space in New York City as well as across Europe in France, Germany, Italy, Scotland, and Switzerland. His music has been featured on festivals and concert series such as the American 

Composers Alliance Festival of American Music, Concept Lab, the Cortona Sessions for New Music, the Etchings Festival, the Queens New Music Festival, the Festival of New American Music at Sacramento State University, Make Music New York, and Tokyo to New York. Additionally, his commissions include those from the New Thread Quartet, violist Liuh-Wen Ting, the Chicago Fine Arts Society, the Lone Star Brass, among others, with further performances by the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble, Ensemble Dal Niente, ensemble mise-en, Iktus Percussion, the Lost Dog New Music Ensemble, newEar, Parthenia, Random Access Music, Yung-Li Dance as well as clarinetist Thomas Piercy, violist Liuh-Wen Ting, and cellists Kate Dillingham and Seth Woods. His music has also been heard on the Composers With Drinks Listening to Music podcast and WWFM and WQXR in the New York tri-state area. More
