ABOUT
Born in Rome, Andrea Causapruna developed a deep connection with music from an early age, inspired by the works of Chopin, Mozart, and Beethoven. He graduated with top marks in guitar from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia under the guidance of Giuliano Balestra, with whom he also explored the vihuela, as well as 19th-century repertoire and performance practice. He continued his studies through advanced training courses held by Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and by Stefano Grondona.
His repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary music. He performs the Spanish repertoire of the Siglo de Oro on the original instrument, the vihuela, and 19th-century works on period instruments. A prizewinner in several national and international competitions, he has received numerous awards, including the Silver Plaque of the Presidency of the Italian Republic in 2006. He has performed as a soloist in Italy, Mexico, and Kenya, appearing at international festivals such as those of Udine and Mexico City.
