ABOUT
Born in Gjakovë, Kosovo (February 16, 1976), Trimor Dhomi grew up in a musical family and moved to Prishtina as a child, where he began formal music studies from elementary through high school.
He earned his BA in Composition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana under esteemed Albanian composers Çesk Zadeja and Tish Daija (1995–1999). He furthered his education with an MA in Composition at the State University “Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, North Macedonia (2010–2011), under Prof. Alex Mannassen. Most recently, he earned an MFA in Film Scoring from the Film Scoring Academy of Europe / Irish-American University (2020–2021), where he studied with industry luminaries such as Howard Shore, John Powell, Mychael Danna, David Arnold, Christopher Young, and Gary Schyman, under the guidance of mentor Andy Hill.
Trimor has composed more than 150 works across film, television, theatre, ballet, opera, chamber ensembles, choir, and symphonic contexts. His distinctive musical voice blends classical and contemporary idioms, weaving acoustic, electronic, and organic textures. Among his notable compositions are Into a Dream and Melody Through Spacetime, both recorded by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, showcasing his talent for orchestral storytelling.
His chamber opera The Last Breath earned international acclaim in 2019, receiving the “Best International New Chamber Opera” award at the Vienna Summer Music Festival before premiering at the Wiener Kammeroper. Dhomi also composed the original score for Shok (2016), Kosovo’s first Oscar-nominated film, bringing his music to a global audience. His achievements have been recognized with multiple awards, including top prizes for film, theatre, and choral compositions, as well as an honorary scholarship from Oscar-winning composer Jan Kaczmarek.
