Tracy Xian

ABOUT

Chinese-American pianist Qiao-Shuang “Tracy”Xian has been described as a complete pianist whose impeccable technique is exceeded only by the depth of her conceptual insight and musical expression. Tracy was born in the city of Shanghai and began playing the piano at the age of four with her mother. Even at a very young age her extraordinary natural musical talent was apparent to all and she soon came to the attention of the pre-college division of the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Shortly thereafter at the age of six she was officially admitted there as a student. During high school years at the conservatory, she was employed by both the Shanghai Philharmonic and the Shanghai Ballet Orchestra and she became a familiar face on the concert stage serving as a soloist, collaborative pianist, chamber and orchestral musician.

Following high school, she was awarded a full scholarship plus living stipend to come to the United States to pursue work in advanced piano performance. She now holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Music from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.

During her collegiate career, she performed many solo recitals throughout the southeastern United States and was featured in performance at several national level music conferences including Music Teachers National Association and the American Matthay Association for Piano. More
