ABOUT
Chicago Native Ryan Hobbs is a busy freelance musician and teacher. He is a regular member the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra, and is a founding member of Northside Brass. He is also the founder and owner of Northside Brass Music Co.-a Chicago based live music and contracting company. Ryan maintains a very busy performance schedule and as a classical player has performed with: Chicago Sinfonettia, Omaha Symphony and Brass Quintet, Music Theater Works (Formerly Light Opera Works), Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Brass Quintet, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. John Cantius Church, Oistrach Symphony (Chicago),Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, UW-Milwaukee Faculty Brass Quintet, International Chamber Artists (Chicago) Paderewski Symphony (Chicago), The Millar Brass Ensemble, Bach-Week Festival (Chicago),New Philharmonic Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony(Appleton, WI),Present Music Milwaukee, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Fox Valley Orchestra(Aurora, IL), Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra (MI),Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (IA), Racine Symphony Orchestra, and the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 Ryan was seen on PBS performing for a Parkinson’s Benefit called “Ethan Bortnick-The Power of Music”.
As a commercial/jazz player Ryan has performed with Dennis De Young and “Styx”, Doc Severinson and his Big Band, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Jazz Vocalist Jane Monheit, and Damien McGinty from Glee and Irish Thunder.
He has also performed in countless Broadway shows around Chicago including recent performances of “Anything Goes”, “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying”, “Hunchback of Notre Dame”(Music Theater Works)
and “I left my Heart-A tribute to Tony Bennett”(Mercury Theatre Chicago),“In The Heights”, “Gypsy”(Porchlight Theater),“Funny Girl” at the Skokie Theatre, and “Hair”, “Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” Metropolis Performing Arts Center.More
