ABOUT
Mackenzie Albert's conducting career began with The Brooklyn Opera, when she was suddenly asked to step in to conduct a performance of Rigoletto on one day's notice. So successful was this performance, led without rehearsal, that she was invited to complete a cycle of three performances of the opera in other venues, and to return in subsequent seasons to conduct productions including Tosca, Les Nozze di Figaro, Les Contes d'Hoffman, The Duenna (Prokofiev), and La Traviata.
As Conductor and Music Director of the sacred music series Masters of Music, Mackenzie has brought major works of the choral repertoire to the borough of Staten Island, and inspired the development of new choral and instrumental ensembles.
Her expertise in music written before 1750 has led to performances in a variety of concerts in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Florida. The newly formed Early Music Festival in south Florida has offered her the position of Music Director. Performances, seminars, and master classes are currently being planned to begin in the 2021-2022 season. More
