Kevin Matheson is an acclaimed violinist known for his expressive artistry and dynamic collaborative work. Kevin was awarded first prize in the Charleston International Music Competition for his performance of Vieuxtemps’ “Souvenirs d’Amérique.” As a Sound Espressivo Competition winner, Kevin has performed as soloist with Orchestra Manhattan, conducted by Karim Said at Carnegie Weil Recital Hall and recorded with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlin, Czech Republic for the Cicerone Music and Arts label.

As frequent soloist with the Tahoe Philharmonic Orchestra, Kevin has performed concertos by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bach, Vivaldi and Sarasate. Additionally, Kevin was soloist for the orchestra’s tour of Croatia and Italy and on their most recent CD. Kevin has performed Bruch and Mozart concertos with the Valley Chamber Orchestra at Hollins University.

Kevin Matheson has presented recitals of George Enescu’s Violin Sonatas at Princeton University and for the Alliance Française de Seattle and American Romanian Cultural Society in Seattle, Washington. Kevin is a frequent recitalist and chamber musician on concert series throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. He has organized new ballet choreography for his performances of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, selections from Bartok’s 44 Duos for Two Violins and other works with the Roanoke Ballet Theatre and Southwest Virginia Ballet.  More
