ABOUT
Carla Auld continues to distinguish herself as both a performer and one of the foremost proponents of the flute in the world today. A popular concert artist and teacher, she has also been hailed for her work as a founder and artistic director of organizations specifically related to music and arts administration.
Born in New York City and later raised in New Jersey, Ms. Auld attended Temple University on music scholarships and received her B.A. in Journalism. She studied flute with Julius Baker, Robert Dick, Michael Parloff, Bart Feller, Bernard Goldberg and Gerardo Levy whom she credits with having helped her form the artistic perspective apparent in her approach to repertoire, performance, and interpretation.
As a "forever student", as she calls herself, many instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers and visual artists have been influential to Carla throughout her musical providing her accolades from critics and audiences alike.

Fanfare Magazine describes Ms. Auld as “beguiling” with a “smooth balanced tone throughout the registers of her instrument,” as well as “marvelous breath control, and [a] technical command distinguishing all of her performances,” while Roger Hits of

Auld’s solo performances exist along a broad spectrum of both venues and collaborators, and include engagements with Sante Fe’s
Flute Immersion,
Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional
of Mexico, Verdi School of Music (Italy) Saint Paul Festival of the Arts, the Festival of Strings in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and many more.
Well-known for her interest in new music and promoting the works of living composers, she has personally commissioned works from James Cohn, Allen Cohn while also having had works written especially for her, including "Voyage to a New Land” for flute and orchestra by Steve Giammarino, recorded on the MSR label www.msrcd.com.
As Founder and Artistic Director of
From Bach to Broadway Ensembles- a classical music services company, Auld was responsible for providing audiences the opportunity to engage professional, musical artists for events; combining specific instrumentalists to accommodate the need for solo and chamber ensembles for all genres of music.
Carla is the founder and flautist for the Auld Flute & Piano Ensemble with pianist Eric Malson and the London Trio with cellist, Lanny Paykin and violinist, Gabriel Schaff.
Constantly in demand for her work as an advisor and adjudicator, Auld has served on the boards of both the New York Flute Club, and the New Jersey Flute Society, and as an international judge for the Magalif Flute Competition.
